Skin Care - Aesthetic Laser Procedures
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I want these treatments done in an Ophthalmologist's office?
The Ophthalmologist has played a major role in medical lasers and hair removal. Electrolysis was developed by an ophthalmologist in 1875 to
remove abnormal damaging eyelashes, and the first medial lasers were used by an ophthalmologist to treat detached retinas. Today the greatest
risk in laser treatments is laser light damage to the eye. Who do you want protecting your eyes and where do
you want to be if you should have problems?
What are the treatments like?
A hand piece will be moved over your skin, and pulses will be administered. You will notice a flash of light, an audible tone and mild sensation similar to a rubber band snap.
What body parts can be treated?
Most any area of the skin can be treated
including: face, neck, ears, arms, underarms, back, legs, and bikini.
What should I expect after treatments?
Hair Removal - Immediately after treatment you can expect a mild sunburn or rash sensation that can last 1 to 24 hours. Treated hair will be expelled 7 to 10 days after treatment. Because hair growth cycles, new hair will eventually reappear and repeated treatment are necessary for permanent reduction.
Photofacial - Immediately after treatment you can expect a mild sunburn sensation that can last 1 to 24 hours. Sun spots and sun
damage will darken after treatment and naturally shed from the skin in 1 to 2 weeks. Multiple treatments are necessary for maximum
results.
Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing - Skin resurfacing
treatments may result in redness, swelling, and a warm sensation for a few hours. The skin may remain pink and puffy for 2 to 7 days. A series of treatments will be required to achieve desired results.
